Addis Police officers rescue injured bald eagle near Myhand Ball Park
ADDIS — Officers with the Addis Police Department stepped outside routine patrol duties this week to lend a hand to a national icon in distress.
Corporal P. Labauve and Officer M. Floyd were dispatched to the area of Laws Road, near Myhand Ball Park, following reports of an injured juvenile bald eagle. Upon arrival, the officers located the raptor—affectionately dubbed "Victor" by the department—grounded and unable to fly.
Recognizing the young bird required immediate medical attention, Labauve and Floyd carefully secured Victor to prevent further injury. The officers transported the eagle directly to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge for specialized evaluation and treatment.
The department commended both officers for going above and beyond in protecting local wildlife, noting that their mission to protect and serve extends to all creatures sharing the Addis community.
