BAKER - Baker High School announced Wednesday evening that Eric Randall, a former high school coach and college quarterback, will take over as head football coach at the school.

Randall replaces Richard Oliver, who held the position for four years. Oliver will continue to hold his position as assistant principal, according to Baker High Principal Traci Morgan. He’ll also continue working as a physical education instructor.

Randall formerly held the head coach position at Scotlandville High Magnet High School where he led the Hornets to a Class 5A quarterfinal contest in 2014. He was played quarterback during his time at Southern University, and was head football coach at Southern University Lab School.

“I know that he is excited and that he has the organizational skills to be successful,” Prinicpal Morgan said. “He will be a perfect role model, as an educator and coach, for our student athletes.”

Last season, Baker was 3-7.
