Tropical Storm Earl has formed in the Caribbean Sea. The system will have no impact on Louisiana or Mississippi.

A cluster of showers and thunderstorms developed in the Central Atlantic Ocean last week and then moved quickly westward across the Lesser Antilles. Fast movement and dry air stunted development for several days.

Even into Tuesday Morning, a sheared cluster of showers and thunderstorms lacked a center of circulation. Despite not being designated a tropical storm, there have been reports of heavy rain and 40-45mph winds in Jamaica which is located on the northern side of the storm.

Earl is expected to move steadily westward toward the Yucatan Peninsula and Belize. It may eventually cross into the Bay of Campeche but would then continue on a track west and into Mexico. NO IMPACT is expected in the local area.

Earl is the fifth named storm of the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season. At the time of this writing, there were no other areas being monitored in the Atlantic Basin.
