Southern University students gather for worship event to kick off new school year

BATON ROUGE — Southern University brought students together at the start of a new school year with a worship event at the university amphitheater.
Students gathered for "The Captain Calling: Sailing Into Worship," an event centered on faith and fellowship.
"With today being Sunday and tomorrow being the first day of classes, that gave us another reason to start strong and make sure that God is going to cover us with his hand," said Javon Staves, SU Director of Jaguar Activity Board. "We have freshmen and seniors to show that no matter what grade, God's got you."
