BATON ROUGE — Southern University received a nearly $3 million donation from CareSouth during its homecoming celebrations on Wednesday.
CareSouth presented the check to university leaders this morning. The money will go toward several programs, including the Human Jukebox, athletics, the School of Nursing and the Southern Foundation.
"The goal to support students, help them matriculate and also prepares a workforce that will feed into entities and organizations such as CareSouth," Southern University Interim President Dr. Orlando McMeans said. "We have a lot of talented young people who are matriculating through our university and university system, and so people value what we can bring to their respective workforces."
