Report: NCAA will allow teams to use automated ball-strike system next college baseball season

BATON ROUGE — The NCAA will allow college baseball teams to use an automated ball-strike system in the 2027 season, ESPN reported Tuesday.

The ruling gives all Division I teams the option to use the ABS system in regular-season and postseason games, according to ESPN.

The Southeastern Conference implemented a similar system in last season's conference tournament, which allowed pitchers, catchers and batters to challenge an umpire's call at the plate and defer it to ABS.
