Man arrested in connection with fatal stabbing on Cypress Avenue

BATON ROUGE — A man was arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing on Saturday, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.
On Aug. 5, officers with the department responded to a residence on Cypress Avenue after a family member reported not hearing from a loved one in a few days. According to the department, officers located 54-year-old Faun Reese along with her live-in boyfriend, Garry Miles, incapacitated in bed.
Officers said Reese was pronounced dead on scene after sustaining a fatal stab wound, with Miles being transported to a local hospital in serious condition and later being admitted for a drug overdose.
During the investigation, detectives developed Miles as a suspect in Reese's death. On Saturday, he was arrested for second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons following his release from the hospital.
Miles was previously arrested numerous times for violating a protective order in California, according to the department.
