Lane Kiffin: "This is just the beginning" of recruiting success

BATON ROUGE - When Lane Kiffin took the head coaching job at LSU, he had to move fast to keep the Tigers' recruiting class together and round up a transfer portal class. He succeeded on both fronts. LSU had a top-10 high school recruiting class, headlined by U-High's Lamar Brown, and also the best portal class in the country.

But Kiffin noted that now that his staff is more entrenched at LSU, the Tigers can reach even greater recruiting heights.

"As good as we are right now, this is just the beginning," said Kiffin. "The season after, we'll have a better roster, because when you think about it, we just have more time, and I'm not asking for more time; I'm saying if we got here and had the signing class in a week, and a portal class and half of your coaches going back and forth from a place."

Four of Kiffin's assistant coaches stayed on board at Ole Miss through the Rebels' College Football Playoff run before fully coming to LSU.

Kiffin went on to highlight that after the 2026 season, when the Tigers go into the portal again, they'll have more familiarity with what the team will need in the future.

"We're able to know our roster really, really well, so when you make those decisions- who comes back on that, what you pay the players- you're just going to be in a better position."
