Crews closing left-turn lane from La. 30 EB onto I-10 WB in Gonzales as work continues on roundabouts

GONZALES — Starting Monday, crews will close the left-turn lane from La. 30 eastbound onto I-10 westbound in Gonzales as they continue construction on three roundabouts along the highway at the intersection of the interstate and St. Landry Avenue.
The closure starts Monday and extends through Friday, Nov. 13. The existing La. 30 eastbound thru lane will be converted into a temporary left turn lane during this closure to allow motorists access to I-10 westbound from La. 30. The right thru lane will be unaffected, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says.
The closure coincides with an already active closure in the left turn lane of La. 30 onto I-10 eastbound, which started on Oct. 2. This will also last through Nov. 13.
These new traffic patterns are required to remove remaining concrete in order to continue construction of the roundabouts at the I-10 eastbound and westbound ramps.
Construction on the project is moving into its final stages with these traffic changes. The roundabouts are expected to be open to traffic in late November or early December, with additional work expected after that. The project, DOTD says, will be fully complete by late January.
