BRPD investigating overnight homicide along Bardwell Street

BATON ROUGE — Homicide detectives with the Baton Rouge Police Department are investigating the death of a male victim on Monday morning following an overnight incident on Bardwell Street.
According to detectives, the victim was found lying in the roadway around 12:15 a.m., leading them to believe that he was struck by a vehicle. The victim was later transported to a local hospital, where it was learned that he had been shot.
The victim later died as a result of his injuries.
The suspect's identity and motive are unknown at this time.
