Alice Street house catches fire early Friday morning; BRFD investigating cause

BATON ROUGE — A house caught fire early Friday morning along Alice Street in Baton Rouge.

The fire first broke out around 4:20 a.m., a Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesperson told WBRZ. Crews arrived to find heavy flames coming from the back of the home.

Within 30 minutes of arriving, firefighters contained the fire to the rear of the home, with the rest of the home suffering heavy smoke and water damage.

The home was vacant, and no one was injured, the spokesperson added.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire to break out.
