PORT ALLEN — Six students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a school bus was involved in a crash Tuesday morning along La. 415 at Main Street in West Baton Rouge Parish, deputies said.

The six children were taken to the hospital "out of an abundance of caution," a spokesperson with the West Baton Rouge Parish School District said. The other students were moved to another bus for transportation to their schools, the spokesperson added.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. The roadway was briefly blocked, but cars were being directed around the crash, which happened near the median.

By 7:40 a.m., the bus was moved out of the roadway. By 7:48 a.m., the car involved in the crash was also towed away.

The crash involved a DS Bus South bus, which contracts its services across the state, including to schools in West Baton Rouge Parish. According to the school district, under their contract with DS Bus, the company handles all aspects of any accident.
