UPDATE: Livingston water line shut off as crews work to repair struck pipe
LIVINGSTON — Water to the struck main line on Blind Street has been shut off as crews work to repair the pipe, according to the Town of Livingston Facebook page
Shortly before noon Tuesday, Livingston officials reported that construction crews replacing a culvert along Blind Street inadvertently hit the water line underground.
In a statement released later that evening, town officials explained that utility maps originally indicated the water line was buried five feet beneath the canal. Instead, the pipe was situated directly underneath the culvert.
"There was no way of us knowing until it was hit," the town said.
Officials reported that a valve was installed at around 7 p.m. to give crews access to the leak.
