BATON ROUGE - A movie starring Tom Cruise will close downtown streets Monday.

Police said North Street will close between the River and the state parking garage. The street will be closed from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. November 23rd. Police said officers will be in place to direct people around the area.

Starting today, no parking will be allowed on the 300 and 400 blocks of North Street, the 500 and 600 blocks of North 3rd Street, the 500 and 600 blocks of North 4th Street and the 300 and 400 blocks of Spanish Town Road. Parking will be allowed after 8 p.m. Monday.

No parking is allowed from today until Tuesday evening on the 100 and 200 blocks of North Street and the 500 and 600 blocks of Lafayette Street.

The parking restrictions will allow production crews to prepare for the filming Monday, police said.

Cruise is shooting Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back. The movie is an action thriller about an ex-military investigator. The first movie was released in 2012. The sequel is expected to be released sometime in 2016.

Cruise was recently in Baton Rouge and was spotted at the LSU/Florida game in October.
