Teen girl arrested in St. Mary murder
BERWICK - Authorities arrested a 15-year-old girl in the murder of Willie Francis, a man reported missing in St. Mary Parish before he was found shot to death last week.
Deputies said a joint investigation involving St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office and the Berwick Police Department led to the arrest Tuesday night. The teen was arrested for second-degree murder, but not identified.
Sheriff's deuties found Fancis's vehicle on Oct. 29 while patrolling the Bayou Vista area. They said it had been abandoned, but the engine was still running.
The next morning, investigators said a body was found along Highway 182. The St. Mary Parish Coroner identified it as 23-year-old Willie Francis of Bayou Vista.
