BATON ROUGE — Southern University hosted the closing reception for an art exhibit tonight.

The exhibit is called "Free as They Want to Be." It features photos aimed at showing the impact of slavery and how freedom exists in today's society.

The display is available at three locations: Frank Hayden Hall at Southern University, Baton Rouge Gallery and the West Baton Rouge Museum.

The curator says she wants to inspire others to tell their own stories through art.
