WHITE CASTLE — The Madonna Chapel in White Castle, often referred to as the smallest church in the world, held its annual Mass for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary on Saturday morning. 

The holy day sees Catholics celebrate the entrance of Mary's body and soul into heaven.

The 9 x 9 foot chapel was built by Anthony Gullo in 1903 in Iberville Parish after his son became ill. Gullo vowed to build a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary if his son recovered.
