NEW ROADS- A prosecutor from Lafayette accepted responsibility for a crash he caused on False River two years ago and took off.

Monday, Chris Richard entered no contest pleas to two charges that were reduced to misdemeanors.

When investigators found Chris Richard, he was back at his home near Lafayette.

It took days for Richard to be charged in the crash after the State Department of Wildlife and Fisheries investigated.

The crash injured three teens. One was hurt so badly he had to be sent to a hospital in Baton Rouge by Airmed.

Monday, Richard entered no contest pleas to careless operation and failure to report an accident.

In addition to that, Richard had to issue an apology, schedule school talks about good decision making and conduct community service at the recommendation of the victims.

Richard's sentence was deferred and he will be on bench probation for a year.
