Police: Man picks up two women he met via Instagram, is carjacked and shot
BATON ROUGE - Officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department have arrested two women in connection with a carjacking/shooting incident that left one man injured.
According to police records the incident took place on a Saturday night (March 7) when a man went to Baton Rouge's Town South neighborhood and picked up two women he'd communicated with via Instagram.
Police have identified these two women as Kaijhla Brown and Taliyah Clark. Records go on to indicate that Clark hopped into the front seat of the man's car while Brown made herself comfortable in the back.
As the man began driving, police say Brown pulled out a gun and demanded money. The man obliged, giving her $250 from his wallet. But Brown allegedly insisted this wasn't enough and demanded that he drive them to an ATM and withdraw more money from his account
Police say when the man hesitated to obey, Brown shot him in the arm.
Shortly after the shooting, while he was within the 12000 block of Perkins Road, the man pulled over, jumped out of his car and ran away.
Police say Brown and Clark, likewise, fled the scene.
Investigators report using the injured victim's account of the incident and a photographic lineup to identify both Brown and Clark.
The women were captured and each charged with attempted first degree murder, armed robbery, and attempted armed robbery before being booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
