GREENSBURG - A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of another man who had recently been arrested on sex charges.

St. Helena Sheriff's deputies arrested Gene Allen Rawls (pictured above) Thursday. Investigators said Rawls showed up at a meeting with investigators in the dead victim's stolen truck.

Herbert Graves was found dead Sunday.

Graves was facing charges for human trafficking and kidnapping charges when he died. Sources said he appeared in court just days before he was killed.

But, investigators said Thursday, the murder does not appear to be related to his criminal charges. Deputies said Rawls and Graves were friends and at one point may have been roommates.  Investigators said Rawls was helping Graves with work on property off Museum Road outside of Greensburg.  At some point, there was an argument and authorities said Rawls shot and killed Graves in his sleep.  Rawls left the scene in Graves' truck, authorities added.

Rawls is charged with murder and theft.
