Man arrested for second degree murder after body found on Victoria Drive
BATON ROUGE- A man arrested Saturday has been accused of second-degree murder of a woman whose body was found on Dec. 19.
According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, 56-year-old Andre Thomas was booked with second-degree murder charges.
On Tuesday Dec. 19, a body was reported around 5:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Victoria Drive. Authorities found the body about 30 minutes later, near the intersection of Victoria Drive and Prescott Road.
The East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office identified the woman as 42-year-old Angel Malik. Her cause of death was from blunt force trauma, and has been ruled as a homicide.
According to an affidavit from the sheriff's office, the LA State Police Crime Lab was able to extract an unknown DNA profile from the victim's fingernail clippings. The DNA matched that of Thomas, which was on file from a previous arrest.
