BATON ROUGE- The founders of Baton Rouge-based Izzo’s Illegal Burrito are opening a pizza restaurant called Lit Pizza.

The new fast-casual wood-fired  pizza restaurant is coming to 3930 Burbank in the Southgate shopping center this summer.

Partners Ozzie Fernandez and Gary Kovacs will offer the same “craft your own” experience Izzo’s offers for the 11 inch pizzas.

it was created based on our belief that everyone should be able to create their own pizza with no rules and limitless options,” Fernandez said. “We are excited to bring this concept to the Baton Rouge community and offer an artisan style wood-fired pizza experience with fast-casual convenience and prices.”

Fresh spun dough will be a Lit specialty, made daily and fired to create a light, crispy thin crust pizza. Locally sourced proteins and vegetables, gluten-free dough and vegan cheese options will also be offered. After crafting the pizza is crafted, it put into a wood-fired oven at 700 degrees.

Ten signature pizzas will also be offered, ranging from the “Easy Caprese” with fresh basil, buffalo mozzarella, EVOO and a drizzle of balsamic glaze, to the Louisiana inspired “Localite” with locally sourced andouille sausage, jalapeños and cayenne pepper hot sauce.

Prices start at $6 for a cheese pizza, and range to $8 for unlimited topping selections.

Other menu options will include grab-and-go salads, local craft beers on tap and fresh-squeezed lemonade.

The restaurant will feature an open kitchen and Louisiana handcrafted wooden tables and bar stools.
