Grass fire, wreck slow traffic Monday
BATON ROUGE - A grass fire and some vehicle crashes slowed the lunchtime commute through the city Monday.
First, I-110 Southbound was closed following a crash just before lunch. Traffic quickly started backing up toward downtown exits. The wreck was outside the view of traffic cameras, but cameras showed a significant slowdown headed toward I-10.
The closure came amid slowdowns on I-10 through the downtown area.
After 2 p.m., fire crews had to put out a fire on the side of the interstate. A patch of grass at the I-10/12 split caught on fire. The blaze was quickly extinguished and light smoke covered parts of the interstate.
