NEW ORLEANS - Krewe of Endymion founder and former Kenner mayor Ed Muniz died Friday night at the age of 83, krewe members say.

An official cause of death has not been given at this time.

Muniz founded the Krewe of Endymion in 1966. He also served as the mayor of Kenner, a member of the Jefferson Parish Council and a Kenner Councilman between 1987 to 2003.

A sculpture of Muniz was unveiled on the campus of Delgado Community College last week as part of the Endymion Garden. 

Visitation will take place on Friday, May 26 at Hall C of the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. It will start at 10 a.m. and run until 2 p.m., when liturgy services begin. 

At the conclusion of the Services a motorcade will proceed to the Endymion Garden on Orleans Avenue at the Delgado Community College Campus.

Anyone who cannot attend the visitation is invited to pay their last respects at the Endymion Garden as the motorcade is scheduled to pass the Endymion Garden at approximately 3:30 to 3:45 p.m.
