BATON ROUGE — A drone helped officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department arrest a man following a stolen vehicle pursuit early Sunday morning.

According to the department, around 3 a.m., officers attempted to make a felony stop on a recently stolen vehicle when the driver refused to stop, leading to a pursuit. 

The suspect, identified as Korey James, allegedly bailed from the vehicle before fleeing on foot into a wooded area near Nellie Avenue at Elgin Street. 

A drone operated by a K9 Unit quickly found James' heat signature in an open field, allowing officers to arrest James without further incident.

James has a criminal history that includes arrests for first-degree murder, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and aggravated assault.
