BATON ROUGE — The driver who was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Wednesday after leading State Police on a chase died on Friday, according to Louisiana State Police.

Trooper Shelby Mayfield said the chase started around 6 p.m. on Wednesday night and ended at the corner of N. Ardenwood and Renoir Avenue, where troopers found the driver with a gunshot wound to the head.

Mayfield said that there is no indication that any trooper fired shots during the situation.
