Deputy shoots man stabbing woman
BATON ROUGE - A sheriff's deputy shot and killed a man who was stabbing a woman at an East Baton Rouge home this weekend, according to the parish sheriff's office.
Deputies said the woman called 911 for help Saturday afternoon. Investigators responded to her location on Maplewood Drive and said they heard a woman screaming when they arrived. The deputies said they saw a man with a knife in the midst of stabbing the woman, and they shot and killed him.
The sheriff's office identified the man as 46-year-old Anthony McKinney. Jail records showed he had been arrested on domestic abuse and child endangerment charges Tuesday, then bonded out of jail later in the week.
The parish coroner confirmed Monday that he died from multiple gunshots to the torso. Deputies said the woman he stabbed is still in critical condition.
