OPELOUSAS - Authorities in St. Landry Parish captured a work release inmate who escaped over the weekend.

According to a post quoting Sheriff Bobby Guidroz, Ronald McGee was taken into custody at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. No further information was released about his capture.

McGee has been on the run since early Sunday morning. Authorities say McGee returned to the parish jail before 9 a.m., but later fled in an unknown direction. The Opelousas Police Department was called to assist with the search.
