ST. LANDRY PARISH - Tuesday, authorities in St. Landry Parish said they located an inmate who escaped last week. 

Barry Butler was assigned as a trustee at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office service station on the west side of Opelousas. Authorities say Butler walked off the property and went in an unknown direction Friday.

The department worked leads from Eunice to Baton Rouge in an attempt to locate Butler. Authorities say a citizen tipped them off saying he was in Eunice. 

Authorities responded to the area where he was spotted and arrested Butler without incident.
