BATON ROUGE - The Baton Rouge Police Burglary Division executed a search warrant Tuesday afternoon after receiving a public tip related to a rash of washeteria thefts that have occurred throughout the city.

The suspects vandalized and stole washing machines and dryer tops of the machines in order to steal the money inside of them.

A total of 82 stolen washing machines and dryer tops were recovered, and four arrests were made by detectives during the search warrant.

41-year-old Simon Manuel, who was incarcerated prior to the search warrant, will be charged with several counts of theft from a coin operated machine and damage to property.

46-year-old Paul Maldonado, was arrested for the above charges as well and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Additionally, 22-year-old Jennifer Anselmo, 46-year-old Amanda Mosely and 44-year-old Robert McCafferty, were issued a misdemeanor summons for illegal possession of stolen things. Police originally reported those three suspects were booked into parish prison as well, but later sent out a correction.
