NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish deputies are warning parents and students of social media posts that show the Dr. Seuss character "Cat in the Hat" paired with vague or specific threats towards schools. 

Sheriff Leland Falcon said that he wants to proactively inform parents and students "of a threatening TikTok reel circulating in our neighboring parishes."

"This reel is the 'Cat in the Hat,' using Dr. Seuss-style verbiage to threaten violence upon schools and individuals," Falcon said. 

Falcon said that the sheriff's office is "prepared to aggressively respond to any such activity that may occur in Assumption Parish."

The sheriff said that anyone who creates and circulates these images on social media can face severe consequences from law enforcement and education officials. 

"Safety is our top priority, and any such threats will be taken seriously. This type of activity will not be treated as a hoax or a joke," Falcon added.

On Tuesday, four students were arrested in St. Mary Parish on terrorizing, menacing and cyberbullying charges in connection with the trend.
