Ascension schools will remain closed
GONZALES - Similar to Livingston Parish, Ascension Parish Schools officials are unsure about when schools will reopen in the wake of the flooding this week.
Six schools in Ascension Parish have water, officials announced in a news conference Wednesday afternoon. A number of schools were unaccessible as of Wednesday afternoon.
Forty school buses were able to be moved to higher ground before flooding started.
The district, which has about 22,000 students, said schools are closed until they can announce a plan for reopening campuses.
