GONZALES - Troopers say a Baton Rouge man was killed in a motorcycle wreck in Ascension Parish early Friday morning.

57-year-old Brion Landry died from injuries sustained during the single-vehicle crash that happened on LA 429 (Weber City Road) near the intersection of Roddy Road at around 2 a.m. Friday.

State Police say Landry was driving his Honda motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a left-handed curve and ran off the right side of the road into a ditch. As his bike entered the ditch, Landry and his passenger were thrown from the motorcycle.

Troopers said Landry was wearing a DOT approved safety helmet, but he suffered fatal injuries in the wreck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office.

Landry’s passenger was also wearing an approved helmet but sustained only minor injuries.

Impairment is a suspected factor in this crash, and a toxicology sample will be taken from Landry for analysis at the LSP Crime Lab.
