APSO investigating a double-murder suicide in Prairieville

ASCENSION – Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a double-murder suicide that occurred on Sunday around 1 p.m.

Deputies responded to a home on Oak Trace Road in Prairieville in reference to a neighbor hearing a gunshot that came from inside the home.
37-year-old Shawn Millet, is believed to have killed 31-year-old Lacey Leblanc of Walker and her 8-year-old daughter inside the home and then shot himself.

Millet was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

During the investigation, it was learned that Millet and Leblanc met online 6 months ago. Leblanc and her daughter were visiting Millet's home and all three were last seen on the porch Saturday night.

Deputies later learning that Millet has a criminal history of domestic abuse battery and cruelty to juveniles.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death of Leblanc and her daughter. The case is still under investigation.
