BATON ROUGE – Four-hundred pounds of crawfish were stolen from a restaurant on Government Street.

The hungry burglars snatched about 12 sacks from Pit-N-Peel between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The crawfish would be worth about $1,200 boiled based on the Pit-N-Peel price featured on the WBRZ Crawfish Index this week.

Pit-N-Peel is consistently the lowest for boiled crawfish on the weekly crawfish price tracking service posted on WBRZ.com each Thursday.

The owner said he filed a police report and was reviewing security video Thursday.

Pit-N-Peel is at the corner of Government Street and S. 21st.

The owner told WBRZ, he has a crew working to catch enough crawfish to meet the Easter weekend demand.
