2016 Miss USA Competition will not return to BR this year
BATON ROUGE - The 2016 Miss USA Competition will not return to Baton Rouge this year, according to the competition’s website.
Instead, the competition will take place from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Baton Rouge did not submit a bid to hold this year's pageant.
The Capital City had notable success when the city first hosted the pageant. However, its 2015 return was mired in controversy, the flames of which were stoked by controversial comments from the organization's owner and current presidential hopeful, Donald J. Trump. Statements from Mayor "Kip" Holden following the pageant indicated the city at least came close to breaking even from a financial perspective in hosting Miss USA.
