BATON ROUGE - If you are looking for a fried turkey, Chris Specialty Meats in Baton Rouge is sold out. No smoked hams either. The cornbread and rice dressings are also flying off the shelves. As for giblet gravy, forget about it.

"It's crazy" business owner Twyla Lachaussee said. "People are in coming all day long. It's great, but it's hectic and very busy."

It's been non-stop business at the meat market since it opened this morning. The owner of the market says that's because of customers like Misty Briggs.

"We normally fry our turkey and make our sides and dressing," Briggs said.

But not this year.

Briggs and her family are starting from scratch after losing their home in the flood.

"Starting over again is just something we're are dealing with are our kids are getting along and just making the change too," she said.

Even though her store is doing very good business this Thanksgiving, she is bothered because of the extra business is from people hit by a disaster.

"I really hate to benefit from my neighbors mis-haps, but I think that's what it's due to," Lachausse said.

And as for Briggs, her dinner may not be home-cooked for thanksgiving, but the flood victim expects to back in her own kitchen by Christmas, fixing her family's holiday dinner.
