Plaqumine residents prepare for planned power outages following unplanned power outages

IBERVILLE - The power is back on in Plaquemine after repairs to an Entergy substation were completed overnight.

The power was expected to be out from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., but many residents saw unplanned outages in advance of the planned work due to severe weather earlier in the day.

Before the weather rolled in, Plaquemine residents said they were prepared for the "Plaq-Out."

"I'm going to just cool my house down as much as possible before 11:00," one resident said.

"It will be hot," another acknowledged. "I live in a two story house, and heat rises."

Some residents in the area already lost power due to storms in the area. Once crews got them back on, people went back to preparing for a less-than-comfortable night.

Entergy says they plan on restoring power to the city around 2:00 a.m., though city officials are warning people it could last as long as 5:00 a.m.
