Flood relief event to be held at SU Law Center to assist with proof of loss claims
BATON ROUGE – The Southern University Law Center is hosting a free flood relief event to assist homeowners who have been impacted by the August flood with their proof of loss claims.
The event is being held on Thursday, July 27 on the university's campus. Also at the summit will be Restore Louisiana, Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon and a team of local experts to help assist homeowners before the upcoming proof of loss deadline.
Homeowners will be able to talk with Restore LA representatives about how to reduce recovery time rebuilding their home, what the proof of loss deadline means for them and their family, how to fight contractor fraud and how to get money they are owed from flood insurance.
Panelists at the summit include organizational members of the Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, Flood Proof LA, Rebuild SOS, Catholic Charities of Baton Rouge, Louisiana Appleseed, Pandit Law's Get Flood Help initiative and Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America Disaster Program.
The summit is a free event and open to the public. It will be held in Southern University Law Center's Smith Brown Ballroom, located on Roosevelt Steptoe Drive. The event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with the time period of 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. reserved for uninsured homeowners and the 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. slot reserved for insured homeowners.
