Catholic hires Hudson Fuller as head coach

On Thursday, Catholic pulled a double dip, signing 5 star Shelton Sampson to LSU and Hudson Fuller as the Bears' newest head coach. Fuller takes over for David Simoneaux who stepped down from the position earlier this month.

This is the Baton Rouge native's second stint with the Bears. Fuller served as Catholic's Offensive Coordinator from 2017 to 2019, helping the Bears earn three straight State Championship appearances and two state titles. In the 2019 season his offense scored 552 points—the most in CHS history.

Fuller returns to CHS after spending the last three seasons as the head coach of the West Feliciana High School Saints. In 2022, he led the Saints to the LHSAA Non-Select Division II semifinal and was named the District 6-4A Coach of the Year.

Fuller says he is thrilled to return to CHS to lead the nationally recognized program.

It is humbling to have the opportunity to lead and serve the Catholic High football program,” Fuller said. “Our program will be unified with the mission of Catholic High and the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. We will strive to be the standard of player development. It is not easy, but it is simple; and it is a grand way to live.”

Prior to the start of his coaching career, Fuller played college football at Millsaps. He transitioned to a student assistant and wide receiver coach, before becoming an offensive quality control analyst at Louisiana State University and an offensive analyst at Texas Christian University.
