Catholic High Bears
The Catholic High Bears are once again leaning on veteran leadership to pave the way to success in 2015.
11 starters back from last years quarterfinals team are hoping to lead by example and with key players back in quarterback Ian Brian and running back Clyde Edwards Elaire the Bears appear poised for another playoff run.
Brian is back for his second and senior season as the Bears signal caller, and Elaire will be sophomore stepping in for the departed running back Derrius Guice who is off to LSU.
The Bears offensive line will need to replace three starters from last season, but center Brent Fontain and tackle Trey Hamilton will return to anchor the line.
Head coach Dale Weiner is has five starters back on defense, but his safety position is an area of concern on that side of the ball.
Another focus area for the coach during the offseason is finding a replacement for kicker Jack Gonsoulin who will be a preferred walk on at LSU. Both Daniel Guillbeau (punter) and Parker Fontenot (placekicker) are duking it out to see who can land the position.
