BATON ROUGE - Southern University Lab School was briefly placed on lockdown early Friday afternoon after school personnel were notified by a pair of students that they saw a non-student woman on campus with a weapon.

The school says Southern University Campus Police were notified immediately, and an officer was dispatched to the building while the school was secured. After clearing the scene, police determined that the imminent threat was no longer on campus and the lockdown was lifted.

SU Lab School parents were notified of the lockdown, but school administrators say there was never any immediate threat to student safety in connection with the incident.

Campus police say they questioned a female Lab School student and a 20-year-old non-student during the investigation. Both were arrested, but charges are not yet known.

SUPD says the investigation is ongoing. We'll have more details on our evening broadcasts starting with News 2 at 4.
