Woman accused of leaving infant in alley
BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a Baton Rouge woman after officers said she recently abandoned her infant in an alley.
According to arrest records, police charged 19-year-old Miochia Paul with child desertion and arrested her on Sept. 21.
The arrest affidavit said BRPD officers were called to 10210 Avenue L and told a woman had dropped her one-year-old girl off in an alley and left her there. Police said the woman told other juveniles at the scene to take the girl to her father, who police said was not at the scene.
Police said they tried to contact Paul several times, but couldn't get hold of her. The officer took the girl to the nearby precinct and notified child services, who took the girl in.
Investigators said three days later they contacted Paul and detained her. Police said Paul told them she didn't do anything wrong.
