Woman accused of fraudulently claiming $16,000 in SNAP benefits

AMITE - The Department of Children and Family Services says a woman was arrested after she was accused of claiming more than $16,000 in food stamp benefits to which she was not entitled.

39-year-old Conchita White, of Roseland, was booked on one count of felony theft by fraud before being booked into the parish jail.

White is accused of defrauding the SNAP benefits program to claim thousands of dollars in goods for which she was ineligible. In total, she defrauded the program out $16,769 of benefits.

White was awaiting bond at the time of this writing.
