Man arrested in triple shooting at vape shop on Coursey Boulevard

BATON ROUGE – Police arrested a suspect in a triple shooting that happened Saturday morning outside of a vape shop on Coursey Boulevard.

Authorities booked 24-year-old Dajuan Williams, in attempted first-degree murder and illegal carrying of weapons.

The incident happened at 3:15 a.m. Saturday outside of Vegas Vapes on 10979 Coursey Blvd. The shooter was described as a black male wearing a black shirt, jeans pants, and a dark colored bandana covering the lower portion of his face. 

Police say he entered a crowd of people standing outside the business and began shooting. He then fled the scene, witnesses told authorities they saw the suspect entering a red Ford Mustang that was parked nearby.

Three people were injured in the shooting, they were all taken to a local hospital for treatment. One of the victims is in a life-threatening condition the other two are in stable condition.

Authorities later caught Williams in the clothing that matched the description along with the driver of the Mustang Eddie Ruffin at a traffic stop. Both men were taken into custody and questioned.

Police learned that Ruffin had no knowledge of the incident that occurred. He told police, Williams ran up to his car and asked him for a ride. Williams told Ruffin that someone was shooting so he wanted to leave the scene.

Eddie Ruffin was released without incident and Williams was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
