BATON ROUGE-  The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office arrested two parents for causing a disturbance at their children’s school after their child reportedly struck the assistant principal.

Deputies say the incident occurred on Monday at Glen Oaks High School when a deputy was contacted by the assistant principal, stating that a student struck him while he was trying to break up a fight.

The step-mother, 31-year-old Cindell Sims and father, 37-year-old Davis Sims, became irate and began cursing in the office after their child was charged and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The step-mother stated that they were not going to wait at the school for the deputy to come back and told an unknown student to get the father out of the car. The unknown student did so and the father began yelling and aggressively pulled his daughter’s arm to get her out of the office.

As the parents were leaving, the father put his face very closely to the assistant principal’s in an effort to intimidate him.

The assistant principal said that he wanted both the father and step-mother banned from the school.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was able to get four witness statements about the disturbance and the incident was also recored on video from the school’s front office camera.

After attempting to locate the parents at their home, the deputy saw the step-mother leaving the school after dismissal and pulled her over.

She was arrested and admitted to not staying at the school until EBRSO arrived after the disturbance.

Moments later, the father arrived on the scene and was arrested as well where he admitted to causing a scene at the school earlier.

Both were transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where they were booked with unlawful disruption of operation of a school.

The step-mother's bond was $2,500 while the father's was $4,500. Both bonded out and have been released.
