BATON ROUGE - Tuesday night Donald Trump (R) and Hillary Clinton (D) expanded their leads in their parties presidential primaries.

Trump won the winner-take-all state of Florida, as well as North Carolina and Illinois. At the time of this post, he's currently in a back-and-forth race with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for first place in Missouri.

The republican frontrunner was delivered a blow Tuesday night when Gov. John Kasick (R-Ohio) won his home state, another winner-take-all battle to prevent Trump from securing the nomination. It was Kasich's first win of the primary season.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) suspended his campaign following a disappointing night. He was criticial of this year's political process.

"I ask the American people to not give into fear, do not give into the frustration," he told supporters Tuesday night. "We can disagree about public policy. We can disagree about it vibrantly, passionately, but we area hopeful people, and we have every right to be helpful."

On the democratic side, Clinton won Florida, North Carolina, Illinois and Ohio. At the time of this post,  Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vermont) is winning by a slim margin in Missouri, but the race is too close to call.
