Three Louisiana companies announce closures and layoffs

BATON ROUGE – Bradken, Trinity Marine Products, Inc. and ProActive Technologies, Inc. have announced mass layoffs or plant closures anticipated to happen next month.

Bradken announced the suspension of operations at its foundry in Amite and stated that layoffs could affect up to 65 employees. The company says the layoffs will occur at different times based on product flow. The first layoffs are expected to begin Oct. 26.

Trinity Marine Products, Inc. announced the permanent closure of its plant in Brusly affecting 288 employees. Layoffs are scheduled to begin Oct. 31 and conclude on Dec. 9.

Lastly, ProActive Technologies, Inc. announced a mass layoff at its B52 contract location in Barksdale affecting 51 employees beginning Oct. 31. However, the company expects a majority of those laid off to be re-hired by a new contractor.
