SATSUMA - The Friday evening commute got off to a very slow start across the region.

Shortly after 3 p.m., eastbound I-12 closed due to a wreck near La. 441.  Traffic was slow between Walker and Holden.  A state traffic camera showed traffic stopped at Satsuma.

In the city of Baton Rouge, east and westbound I-10 also slowed due to various wrecks but was not closed.  The heaviest delays were seen in both directions from the Mississippi River to the I-10/12 split.  

A similar situation developed in Ascension where eastbound traffic slowed significantly from the EBR/Ascension parish line to Gonzales.
