BATON ROUGE - After three weeks of extensive renovations, the USS Kidd Veterans Museum is set to reopen to the public again in the first days of 2016.

The museum, located at 305 South River Road, will officially reopen on Saturday, Jan. 2, but museum officials are calling this a “quiet opening.” The museum, Yelp! Baton Rouge and the Capitol Area Animal Welfare Society will host First Free Sunday: Lucky & Scotty Day on the following day, Sunday, Jan. 3.

Museum officials say the real excitement and most anticipated day will come on Saturday, Jan. 16 when members of the Louisiana Naval War Memorial Commission and KIDD Crew invite residents of the Capital Area to pack the museum from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a ribbon cutting and grand reopening ceremony.
